Dear Elizabeth & Pete,
Howdy-do from the great sand dunes "monument." Boy, we have been looking all day
for the monument and so far nothing but more sand dunes. Not a peep out of Eugenie yet, I
think she might have lost her voice (forever? I hope!). Finally the Remhardts got some
sleep last night, although Mary R's arthuritis was so bad that she couldn't let go of the
eyedropper! Burma couldn't stop laughing. I found the situation to be a bit embarrassing.
Jan hasn't done anything but mope since we left New Mexico. She had a grilled cheese
sandwich today and didn't even complain! I fear that she knows, but on the off chance that
she doesn't, please don't say a thing about you-know-who! Sure is hot today! Best wishes,
