Dear Pete & Liz,
Howdy from New Mexico. We are now in Grants. We had to cut short our trip to the lavabeds
because it looks like Eugenie has taken a turn for the worse. It seems her stump is a bit
raw. When I accidently bumped her there she yipped like I never heard! Now she just sits
on her blanket and doesn't make a sound. She seems O.K to me but the Remhardts are worried
because she won't eat. They are looking for a vet now. Jan talked to Hattie on the 'phone
today and she is very suspicious. I repeat - do not say a thing about Mabel Connor!
I think I have her convinced that her husband has been bowling for the last two weeks. If
she calls - say that! I know she is at least a little bit suspicious - this cheese thing
is getting completely out of hand! It sure is sunny here - Joseph
