Dear Pete & Elizabeth,
At last we've made it to Kansas! I must say, things have been going much more smoothly
ever since Nul joined us. Eldud R. is at least exchanging pleasantries with me now that
Eugenie is conscious again. She looks pretty funny, though, as she has lost a good deal of
hair from anxiety I think. Plus, she flops around, not being able to stand up and all. I
promised Eldud R. that I would whittle at least one new leg (back) for Eugenie. I have
still not decided how to attach it - straps? Super glue? We'll see. We are in Tribune now
- the sugar beets sure are good here. Burma loves them, but she said it makes her sort of
queasy. Nul has promised to hypnotise her so that she doesn't get carsick all the time. I
sure hope it works because the car is sure smelling funny all the time - between her and
Eugenie. Tomorrow to Ft. Larned. Best - Joseph
