Premiered
at the AFI Film Festival in Los
Angeles last
fall and subsequently screened at the Tribeca fest,
the film is a textured character study that recalls the social realism of Ken
Loach in its depiction of the rigors of public service and the complex dynamic
of police partnership.
Pierson
will be one of six directors showcased in the Sundance Channel's second New
Voices series, which runs in the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.
Indie
imprint
Hart
Sharp will release the pic on video and DVD soon
after as part of the label's U.S. independent imprint Hart Sharp Cinema
Selections, which recently bowed with Hilary Birmingham's "Tully" and
continues in the fall with Eric Byler's "Charlotte Sometimes."
Andrew Herwitz of the Film Sales Co. negotiated the sales on behalf of the filmmakers with, respectively, Sundance VP of acquisitions Christian Vesper and Hart Sharp Video prexy Joseph Amodei.
